Kosi Bay Fly Fishing - 4 Days

One thing is for sure, there is absolutely nothing easy about getting good results at Kosi bay!

Conditions can be incredibly tough at the best of times with strong winds, big swell and strong inshore currents, but when it turns on, not many places in South Africa can beat it!

With the majority of Kingfish in excess of 100cm haven been taken from these waters, it is always wise to get fit with a 12wt in your hand.

Like most good fly fisherman knows, you have to think like a fish and know where and when they will be hunting. Knowing and understanding the Kosi system is of utmost importance! Our guide will give you a thorough introduction with maps and charts and of course put the correct flies in your hand! We will do our best to get you to the fish, you just have to cast at em and convince them to grab your fly! Best season for game fish is Nov – April although we amuse ourselves all year round with pike, grunter, springer, rock salmon, three-spot pompano and mullet.

After the walk he will sit down with you and give you a breakdown on what to expect with the current conditions, hand out your complimentary flies for the trip and make sure that everyone is sorted and rigged for the next day of fishing.

Your guide will meet you 1hr before sunrise and walk down to the estuary mouth where you will fish either the northern or southern bank depending on tide and wind directions.

If the wind is blowing from the south we will use kayaks to cross over to the south bank. The aim will be to fish hard and as long as we can.

At 14:00 we will have coffee and snacks before our vehicle will go drop us off at the mouth again for an afternoon of adrenalin pumping action as the sun start setting.

We will fish till just before dark and start our 30 min walk back up to the camp.

After freshening up, dinner will be served in the boma followed by some fly tying or fire time.

We will do a repeat of day 2, every day comes with its own highlights.
