Home to 95 identified species of hard and soft corals, sponges and many other invertebrates, Sodwana Bay is classified as one of the top 10 dive destinations in Africa!
With the abundance of over 1200 species of fish over a big variety of reefs it certainly make it an ideal dive destination for both the experienced and novice diver.
Our crew started operating in 1994 and offer guests a relaxed and totally personal dive experience. We aim at taking our divers to all our secret spots off the beaten track. Our equipment is well maintained and the boat has ample space for photographic equipment.
Our guests are accommodated in comfortable two bedroom units in close proximity to restaurants, shops and a couple of minutes drive to the beach.
This itinerary is aimed at guests that would like to do a diving course. If you are already qualified and just want to dive please look at our Diving Itineraries.
You will be welcomed at your accommodation in Sodwana Bay at 15:00.
Here you will have some time to settle in and prepare to meet the crew at Lake Mgoboseleni for some sundowners and a briefing for your course and dives to come.
Please note that your accommodation is self-catered, food can be purchased at the local supermarket or the many restaurants offer a lovely variety of options.
You will meet your crew at 8am to start some pool sessions until 1pm.
After heading out for some lunch you will return for some theory work with a couple of late afternoon hours free for relaxation or some additional activities that can be arranged by the crew.
These activities include surfing , kite surfing and Zulu cooking lessons.
Dinner will be self catered at your unit or at one of the excellent restaurants.
You will be meeting the crew at 8am to go enjoy your first 2 ocean dives.
After your dives and some lunch it will be back to the books for some theory and to work through unclear areas with your instructor.
The late afternoon will be yours to relax or again enjoy some additional activities.
Dinner will be self catered or at one of the excellent restaurants.
You will meet the crew at 8am and go enjoy another 2 qualifying dives.
After your dives you will have some relaxing time before meeting the crew at 15:00 for a lovely late afternoon at Lake Sibaya. Take some drinks along as the crew will make a fire and braai some wors for boerierolls as an early dinner snack.
You will be back at your accommodation between 18:00 and 19:00 to still get to a restaurant in time for dinner.
You will meet the crew at 8am.
This morning you will enjoy your first dive as a qualified diver! This means no tasks will have to be completed, you can just have fun.
After your dive you will head back to your accommodation to check out and depart for your next Thongaland Adventure.
